Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference

Event Date:
October 28, 2022 to October 29, 2022

The Mayborn Conference, now in its 18th year, will deliver all the insights into great narrative storytelling you’ve come to expect – but at a new location in Downtown Dallas at the Dallas Morning News.

Taking place October 28-29, 2022, the theme is "Diary of a Storyteller: Crafting Words that Matter."

Over the past few years, our worlds have been turned topsy-turvy. One fact has remained consistent: Quality storytelling is alive and well, capturing the voices, the scenes and characters in captivating, descriptive and powerful ways.

This year’s goes back to the basics, showing how to focus on writing craft fuels greater creativity, the passionate exploration of people and places and drives the pervasive journey of all writers to tell great stories.

A virtual option is available for a reduced price.

A new manuscript contest will award a publication prize valued at $50,000 from Brown Books Publishing Group. We’ll pick the top three book manuscripts and hold a “Shark Tank-like” contest for would-be authors to present their manuscript live to a panel of judges who will announce the winner. From there, it’s off to publication and distribution – with full editing, production and publicity.

Of course, we’ll also be presenting our other Ten Spurs Reported Narrative and Personal Essay awards.

Deadline for this year’s Mayborn Writing Contests is September 15, so register and submit your entries now. Visit www.themayborn.com. Please note that you must register for the conference in order to submit Writing Contest entries.
