Sara Peach and Campaign Hound

The inaugural 2016 Media on the Move Spotlight is on Sara Peach. Sara has been a member of SEJ since 2008 and is part of a news team that won $150,000 in the Knight News Challenge. Her team won for Campaign Hound, a service that tracks political stump speeches and indexes them by keyword. Campaign Hound was selected for funding from more than 1,000 entries in the Knight News Challenge on elections. Campaign Hound is a spin-off of Capitol Hound, which is being used to track political keywords in the North Carolina state capitol.

Here’s a recent interview with Sara giving us the inside details of the project (MP3/5.7 MB/00:04:05).

With the help of the Knight News Challenge funding, Sara and her colleagues hope to take Capitol Hound out of the state capital onto the campaign trail in 2016 as Campaign Hound.

You can learn more about the project here.
