Meet SEJ member Olga Loginova! Olga is an investigative journalist and documentary filmmaker reporting about environmental justice, climate displacement and human rights. She is a producer, reporter and host of the nonfiction narrative podcast 'Leaving the Island', which investigates the climate change-driven resettlement of an entire island in Louisiana. These days, Olga is exploring the effects of global warming on the ocean waves and surfing. In 2023, she won the Amnesty International Media Award for a long-form feature about the human rights crackdown in her home country, Belarus. Olga has earned a Master of Arts degree in science, health and environmental reporting from Columbia University and an M.A. in broadcast and cinematic arts from Central Michigan University.
When asked how SEJ membership has made her job easier, Olga said, "As an immigrant and freelancer, I have been incredibly grateful for the supportive, resourceful and inspiring community that SEJ has provided. From mentorship and grant opportunities, to resource toolkits, newsletters and workshops, SEJ is a lifeline for environmental journalists like myself. As we navigate the post-pandemic and post-election waters, only through mutual support and collaboration can we continue our vital work for the public good." Join us — apply for SEJ membership.
