DEADLINE: European Journalism-Fellowships

Since 1999, several European Journalism-Fellowships are awarded annually to conduct research at the International Center for Journalism of the Freie Universitaet Berlin (Free University of Berlin). The programme enables participants to network with professional colleagues from Eastern and Western Europe and the United States and provide them with the opportunity to take a two-semester leave from their professional positions and spend a sabbatical year at the Freie Universität widening their knowledge while pursuing their research project. The programme runs October - July annually. Highly qualified journalists in either staff positions or freelance employment with several years of professional experience, not currently residing in Berlin, are eligible to apply. Certification of German language proficiency is required. Website is also available in English, Dutch and Russian. Deadline: May 15, 2021.

Standard Fellowship: for journalists with at least 5 years of experience. Standard fellows receive a monthly stipend of 1,500 Euros for the duration of ten months.
Junior Fellowship: for journalists with about five years of professional experience. Junior Fellows receive a monthly stipend of 1,000 up to 1,200 Euros for the duration of ten months.
