"The Society of Environmental Journalists helps improve and increase journalism about what matters most to you and your family."

SEJ executive director Meaghan ParkerEnvironmental journalists tell the world's most important stories. They write about life's essentials: the water we drink, the food we eat and the air we breathe. By exposing threats to our health and well-being, journalists protect us and our families.

Yet many environmental journalists struggle to report on these critical issues. Beats have been cut and budgets have been slashed, while publishers use clickbait and celebrities to grab eyeballs. In exchange for shrinking paychecks and increasing workloads, reporters face intimidation, stonewalling and harassment from anti-democratic forces in the United States and overseas.

In my first year as Executive Director of the Society of Environmental Journalists, I've learned so much from our 1,500 member journalists. Their passion for informing the public, unwavering dedication to the truth, and respect for our shared environment is a daily inspiration.

The Society of Environmental Journalists helps improve and increase journalism about what matters most to you and your family. You too can help the people who tell the world's most important stories.
