American Companies Trading in Illegal Hardwoods From Peru: Report [1]

"More than 20 American companies have played roles in fostering a steady flow of illegal hardwoods from the Peruvian Amazon, part of a 'well-oiled machine that is ransacking Peru’s forests and undermining the livelihoods and rights of the people that depend on them,' according to a new report by the Environmental Investigation Agency, a watchdog group."

Global Talks Offer Chance To Improve US Extractive Industries Transparency [10]

An initiative involving some 35 nations aims to solve many complex revenue-reporting problems, including improving the flow of information across national borders. But solutions can't even begin until individual nations get a grip on accurate data about extractive industries within their own borders.
