Meet SEJ member Brendan Rivers! While Brendan originally planned to pursue a career as a composer, arranger, music producer and recording engineer, an internship at WGCU, the NPR and PBS member station in Fort Myers, Florida, convinced him that he belongs in broadcasting and public media. He is now the lead reporter for ADAPT, WJCT Public Media's digital magazine exploring how Northeast Florida is adapting to sea level rise and other effects of climate change. Brendan also hosts the ADAPT podcast and quarterly ADAPT events. His bylines include NPR, The Guardian, Inside Climate News, Living On Earth, The Miami Herald, The Florida Times-Union and Folio Weekly. He is also a former fellow with Inside Climate News and Climate Matters in the Newsroom.

Brendan joined SEJ in 2019 and has gotten a lot out of his membership so far. He said, "SEJ has provided me with learning opportunities I would not have had access to otherwise, making me a better environmental reporter. It has also allowed me to connect with other journalists from across the country who are covering climate change and other environmental issues. Additionally, content I regularly receive from SEJ often helps me come up with story ideas."
