DEADLINE: IJA - AAJA Pacific Islander Journalism Scholarship

Event Date:
June 30, 2025

The Indigenous Journalists Association (IJA) and AAJA are offering two $5,000 scholarships to help offset the cost of internships, tuition, student loans or journalism training. Administered by the Indigenous Journalists Association, the fund was established in 2022 in partnership with the Asian American Journalists Association’s Pacific Islander Task Force. These scholarships were created by the AAJA Pacific Islander Task Force with support from The Omidyar Group.

The IJA / AAJA Pacific Islander Journalism Scholarship Fund is intended to grow the number of Pacific Islander journalists and support their success. Scholarships are intended to help Indigenous peoples of the Pacific, particularly Polynesians, Micronesians and Melanesians, pursue careers in journalism, especially in the U.S. and U.S.-affiliated Pacific islands. The goal is to strengthen the journalistic skills of Pasifika to improve Oceania representation and storytelling in the news media industry.

Deadline: May 31, 2025 extended to June 30.
