2022 Lake Erie Science and Outdoor Writers Conference

Event Date:
August 30, 2022 to August 31, 2022

Ohio Sea Grant is hosting a Lake Erie Workshop for Science and Outdoor Writers on August 30-31, 2022. This hands-on learning experience takes place at F.T. Stone Laboratory, The Ohio State University's Island Campus on Lake Erie. Registration is not final until you receive confirmation from Stone Lab staff.

Please arrive on the 9:30am Miller Ferry on Tuesday, August 30. You will ride the ferry as passengers (from Catawba to Put in Bay); the boat ride is ~30minutes in duration. Address: 5174 E. Water Street, Port Clinton, OH 43452. $17 roundtrip.

The event, housing and meals are free of charge to participants. Departure will be on the 3:30pm ferry on Wednesday, August 31. An agenda with speakers will be forthcoming as we get closer to the event, as we gather registration requests.

The program typically involves a variety of scientific presentations and research updates from people at several universities and government agencies, with lots of opportunities for journalists to ask questions. NOTE: The registration form gives you a chance to note issues you'd like to see discussed.

If you require an accommodation such as interpretation to participate in this event, please contact Erin Monaco at monaco.25@osu.edu. Requests made by August 16, 2022 will generally allow us to provide seamless access, but the university will make every effort to meet requests made after this date.

Register here.
