2020 North American Congress for Conservation Biology (NACCB 2020) Journalist Fellowships To Attend Conservation Science Conference July 26-31:

COMPASS is supporting travel fellowships for journalists to attend the Biennial North American Congress for Conservation Biology this July! The conference will bring approximately 1000 top conservation scientists to Denver, Colorado, for field trips, workshops, symposia, and social events around the theme of Crossing Boundaries: Innovative Approaches to Conservation. To learn more, visit the conference website.

We are committed to diversifying the stories that are told around conservation and conservation science. We strongly encourage applications from people who are thinking about and communicating these issues from unique identities, voices, and perspectives. We welcome applications from North American professional journalists and editors for print, broadcast and online outlets. Our goals are to inform reporting about conservation science in a broad range of outlets and to provide opportunities for journalists to connect with conservation research.

The Fellowship will provide travel stipend of up to $650 USD, shared accommodation for 4 nights at the conference (July 27-31), and $250 USD for per diem expenses during the conference. Fellows will be expected to participate in COMPASS conference activities designed to enhance journalist and scientist connections and communications, including attending an opening plenary panel session on Monday night where journalist fellows will be introduced to the conference attendees, a post-plenary reception, and a Wednesday evening ‘Pitch Pit’ event.

Application Deadline: March 16, 2020.
