Event Date:
October 2, 2023

The Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) and its partners CIFOR-ICRAF, DW Akademie, G20 Global Land Initiative-UNCCD, Grist and the Pulitzer Center invite English-speaking journalists who report on climate change and sustainable development (and are currently collaborating with at least one media outlet of global, regional or national reach) to apply by September 29 extended to Oct 2 for the global media seminar Reporting for a Livable Earth: Communicating Science, Facts and Action, on October 4-5, 2023, 13:00–14:30 (UTC+2 / CEST) // 7:00-8:30 a.m. EDT.

This free online seminar will gather English-speaking journalists and content creators worldwide to hear from and interact with peer communicators and other experts:

  • Ocean reporting in the era of climate emergency, by Pulitzer: how to improve the coverage of the ocean considering its global climate and livelihoods role?
  • A 'land' of opportunities, by the G20 Global Land Initiative–UNCCD: where does land stand in sustainable development, conservation and social inclusion, and what tools help dive into its realm?
  • A rights-based approach: Reporting on indigenous affairs, climate and the environment, by Grist: why the public needs to understand the connection between protecting the environment and human rights?
  • Fireside chat with scientists, by CIFOR-ICRAF: two experts will clear out concepts, suggest sources and answer your questions about the planetary crisis and the avenues for solutions.

In addition, on 12 October, during the Hybrid Conference GLF Nairobi 2023: A New Vision for Earth, DW Akademie will host a panel discussion on the community media's role in climate action.

Meet the speakers and learn more here. Among the participants who pitch their story, three will get the chance to be awarded a story grant.
