Science Talk '20: A Virtual Experience
The theme for Science Talk 2020 is “building bridges”, and one of the bridges we wish to build is a stronger connection between scientists and journalists.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have officially determined that SCIENCE TALK ‘20 will shift formats from in-person to a live-streamed event.
Science Talk is a non-profit that empowers and inspires the science communication community to expand their communication potential and affect the world. We define “science communicator” as anyone who engages in science communication and outreach activities, from grad students who write a blog, to faculty delivering science café talks, to science of scicomm researchers, scicomm trainers, public information officers, science writers, museum and zoo staff, YouTube content creators, and more.
Our 2020 conference, originally planned to take place at the Tiffany Center in Portland, Oregon, on March 26-27, will be livestreamed. The conference line-up includes keynotes by Chris Volpe (Science Counts) and Ella Al-Shamahi (National Geographic Explorer and stand-up comic), exciting science communication workshops, talks, networking, and panel discussions. We are also accepting abstracts for poster presentations on science communication and outreach topics and submissions of science-inspired art. Registration is open until the conference begins.
