CTS Neighbors See Little Done Despite Millions Spent"

"ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- With at least $11 million in government funding spent so far on the CTS Superfund site, neighbors like Lori Murphy see little to show for it.

It’s been nearly 15 years since toxic industrial chemicals were discovered oozing up into springs next door to the former manufacturing facility on Mills Gap Road, which now is a vacant lot surrounded by a fence and visible from the road.

Since then federal, state and local agencies have been involved in efforts including well and soil testing, installing house filtration systems and running municipal waterlines."
