"UCD, Chico, UOP Listed as Greenest Colleges in Report"

"It's the latest twist in American college ratings: How green is your campus?

Dormitories at Chico State hold competitions to see which one can save the most energy, with the winning students awarded a pizza party. Freshmen at University of the Pacific, in Stockton, participate in environmental service projects as part of their introduction to the school. And at UC Davis, the dining hall serves fruits and veggies grown on local farms, cutting down the pollution involved in trucking food long distances.

Those are just some of the practices that got the three schools named in a new Princeton Review guide listing 286 colleges across the country that are doing the most to be sustainable."

Laurel Rosenhall reports for the Sacramento Bee May 8, 2010.
