The Canadian Animal Law Conference is a jam-packed, one-of-a-kind event bringing together animal lawyers, scholars, advocates and students to learn, reflect and collaborate on building a better legal system for animals.
The 2024 Canadian Animal Law Conference [1] will take place in person from Friday, September 27 to Sunday, September 29. A related Student Animal Law Conference will also take place during the day on Friday, September 27. All events will take place at Toronto Metropolitan University in downtown Toronto, Ontario.
Members of student Animal Justice clubs at Canadian law schools will be eligible to apply for travel funding [2]. If your school doesn't yet have a club, get in touch with us at studentprogram@animaljustice.ca [3] and we can discuss your eligibility!
The schedule includes sessions on Navigating Aquatic Animal Law & Ethics; Agricultural Exceptionalism & Public Trust; “Enriched” Cages; Current Animal Protection Bills; A Look at Selective Media Coverage and our Access to Animal Stories; Ag Gag Laws, Private Property, and Public Discourse; Toward Progressive Wildlife Policies: Case Studies from BC and PEI; Protecting Wildlife and Biodiversity: Challenges and Opportunities in Canada; and more.
All food served at the conference will be plant-based and vegan, containing no meat, fish, dairy, eggs, or other animal products.
