DEADLINE: Himalaya Reporting Grant

The Himalayan Climate Change Adaptation Programme provides grants to support professional journalists in reporting investigative stories on climate-related environmental issues, with special regard to adaptation measures. Apply by June 25. Preference given to reporters from countries associated with the project (including China, India, Nepal, and Pakistan).

DEADLINE: The John Alexander Project's Above the Fray Fellowship

The Above the Fray fellowship is designed to give a promising journalist the opportunity to cover important but under-reported stories from a location abroad. The fellow will be selected based on a winning proposal to report from a region lacking significant mainstream media attention. The selected individual will spend three months filing on-air and online stories for NPR. Apply online by July 1, 2013.

The 6 free seminars, established by Metcalf Institute for Marine & Environmental Reporting to honor Lord’s outstanding contributions to environmental journalism, take place in 2012-2013 and are open to Southern New England journalists reporting for Rhode Island audiences.
