"Detroit public schools tested drinking water on the majority of its campuses and found that samples in 57 of 86 schools had copper or lead levels in excess of legally acceptable limits.
With some results still pending, the Detroit Public Schools Community District is searching for a long-term plan to resolve the drinking water issue.
"Moving forward, we will continue to use water coolers district-wide and are actively working through the bid processes to make a recommendation to the board for the use of hydration stations," administrators said in a statement issued Wednesday, Sept. 19. "This will occur within the next couple of weeks."
