"Biden Targets Race, Gender Impacts With Regulation Proposal"

"US officials would formally gauge how their health, pollution, and workforce policies help or harm racial and ethnic minority groups, under a proposal released by the Biden administration.

The plan, released Thursday, would direct federal agencies to better account for the costs and benefits of their regulations on individuals and households, as well as companies.

It would raise the threshold for federal regulations that require White House approval to those with an expected $200 million annual impact on economic competition, jobs, public health, or safety, up from $100 million. The change would effectively lessen the president’s control over department decisions his team deems insignificant.

“The changes we’re announcing and proposing today are focused on ensuring our regulatory system works for the American people,” said Ricky Revesz, head of the White House’s regulations office, in a statement. “This isn’t about more or fewer regulations. It’s about getting regulations right.”"
