"John Kerry Hails China’s ‘Incredible Job’ On Renewables, Warns On Coal"

"U.S. special climate envoy John F. Kerry praised China’s “incredible job” expanding renewable energy sources Monday, while urging the world’s largest greenhouse gas emitter to stop building coal-fired power plants.

Kerry’s arrival in Beijing — where he will hold three days of talks — comes soon after similar trips by Treasury Secretary Janet L. Yellen and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Together, these trips have raised hopes about a cautious thawing of bilateral tensions between the two superpowers. After six months of heightened tensions, the fact that the two sides are even talking again is considered progress."
