DEADLINE: African Climate Change and Environmental Reporting Awards
The Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) seeks submissions for the 2020 African Climate Change and Environmental Reporting (ACCER) Awards in five categories:
- ACCER Grand Prize
Recognises the best Climate Change and Environmental story across all platforms.
- ACCER Radio Journalism Award and 2 Runners up
This price recognises the best Climate Change and Environment story by radio journalist.
- ACCER Television Journalism Award and 2 runners up
This price recognises the best Climate Change and Environment story by a television journalist.
- ACCER Print Journalism Award
This price recognises the best Climate Change and Environment story by a newspaper or news magazine journalist.
- ACCER Online Journalism Award
This price recognises the best Climate Change and Environment story by an online journalist.
The ACCER Awards 2020 is the fifth in a series, and comes at a time uncertainty abounds regarding climate action in the context of Covid-19 crisis. Journalists and media networks remain important actors in unpacking and building the synergy for the two crises, making a compelling case for them to be tackled simultaneously. This year's theme is “Making climate action a way of life.” Deadline is Sep 30, 2020.
Winning and shortlisted contesters will be invited to The ACCER Awards Finalists Academy (TAAFA) to be held at the venue of the ACCER Awards Gala Night that will be announced in due course. A cash prize of $1,000 awaits the overall winner, with more opportunities to travel to international events, as per PACJA’s discretion. The shortlisted candidates will also get free return tickets to the event.
