DEADLINE: Catalyst 2025 — Simulation of Working Through a Water Crisis

Event Date:
June 18, 2025

Ever wish you could step inside the stories you cover?

At Catalyst 2025, we’re inviting journalists to do exactly that.

Hosted by the non-profit Rogue Water Lab, Catalyst is a high-intensity, immersive event where water professionals, public officials, and a select group of journalists come together to simulate working through a water crisis — complete with misinformation, stakeholder conflict, press pressure, and policy implications. It’s not a panel. It’s not a lecture. It’s the closest thing to living inside the water stories you report.

Catalyst 2025 takes place September 22–24, 2025 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

We know journalists often pay their own way to attend conferences. That’s why we’ve kept Catalyst cost-effective:

  • Registration is just $325 for SEJ members
  • Hotel block available for $144/night

Deadline: Apply by May 31, 2025. UPDATE: Rogue is extending the application deadline to June 18 for all journalists! Should you choose to take advantage of the extension, please email Executive Director Chelsea Boozer at chelsea@roguewaterlab.org to indicate an application is pending.
