DEADLINE: Fellowships for SEJ Workshop "Searching for Truth in the Age of Alternative Facts"

The Society of Environmental Journalists invites SEJ member journalists to apply for a three-day reporting workshop that will examine the changing landscape of environmental regulation. 
 
WHO: Applicants are limited to SEJ member journalists working in the United States. Preference will be given to those most likely to apply their learning to robust coverage of regulatory issues, or who can contribute in some major way to the discussion. 
WHAT: Fellowships for a three-day workshop on environmental regulation in the Trump era 
WHEN: April 20-23, 2017
WHERE: Dallas, Texas
"Searching for Truth in the Age of Alternative Facts" is organized by SEJ and will be held in Dallas, Texas, April 20-23, 2017.
 
SEJ will cover reasonable airfare costs, hotel accommodations and most meals for all participants.
During this workshop, journalists will:
  • Gain a greater understanding of the changing environmental regulatory landscape
  • Discuss how to better access government information
  • Learn new FOIA tricks and tips
  • Understand how to get around a lack of comment from government PR flacks
  • Find how to work with whistleblowers, and how to protect them and yourself in the process
  • Take a fresh look at how to better tell human stories from data
  • Learn how to reach people who don't trust the media
We are inviting top legal experts, thought leaders and journalists to give us the latest information on these most timely of issues.
 
This workshop will be relevant to anyone covering, or anticipating covering, federal, state and/or local environmental regulations. Journalists from all media are encouraged to apply.
