Removing Roadblocks to TSCA Reform Legislation

Event Date:
May 4, 2015

Join us for what is sure to be a lively discussion with a group of experts and advocates on the best ways to remove the obstacles that remain to advancing legislation that would amend the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Free registration required.

For several years, a lively debate has occurred in and around Capitol Hill searching for ways to revive TSCA through various legislative amendments that have been introduced with the goal of invigorating and adding credibility to EPA’s chemical regulatory program. A bipartisan bill recently introduced in the U.S. Senate, and the expectation of activity in the House of Representatives, demonstrate momentum for revamping the nation’s central chemical control legislation during the current session. Negotiators claim to have narrowed the areas of disagreement to a few key areas such as preemption of state regulatory programs and funding of federal programs. This panel discussion will include experts in the field from the public and private sectors and the NGO community who will identify and examine practical and foreseeable ways in which TSCA reform advocates on all sides of the issue can envision a “win-win”.
