BARNETT SHALE: Homeowners Renew Complaints About Water Near Range Wells

"Texas oil and gas officials are once again investigating whether gas drilling contaminated water wells in a neighborhood west of Fort Worth where similar charges gained national attention nearly three years ago."

"Inspectors from the Texas Railroad Commission last month visited the homes and water wells of at least four families in Parker County, near Weatherford, who believe drilling has caused natural gas to contaminate their drinking water. Despite its name, the Railroad Commission oversees oil and gas drilling.

One of those landowners, Steve Lipsky, touched off the furor in 2010 with his complaint to the Railroad Commission. The others didn't complain then, but say they've come forward now because the problem has worsened. Some were also worried by results they got from testing done by Duke University researchers."
