Flint Mayor Asks EPA To Re-Start Water Meetings Cancelled By State

"FLINT, MI -- Mayor Karen Weaver is asking the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to intervene and require that the state re-start meetings of a Flint water advisory group appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder.

The Governor's Office announced April 17 that a meeting of the Flint Water Interagency Coordinating Committee had been canceled because Weaver threatened to sue the state over issues including an end to state-funded bottled water in the city.

Weaver wrote to Chris Korleski, director of EPA's Region 5 Water Office, on Friday, April 27, calling the cancellation retaliatory and saying the decision has prevented the city and state from complying with a January 2016 federal order."
