"Big Oil Expresses Tepid Interest As Trump Seeks Deal On Venezuela"

"Major oil firms expressed interest — with reservations — about doing business in Venezuela as President Trump said Friday he’s seeking a deal to decide which companies will drill in the Latin American nation.

During a meeting at the White House, Trump said he would try to “cut a deal” to determine which firms get to produce Venezuelan oil.

“We’re going to be making the decision as to which oil companies are going to go in — that we’re going to allow to go in. [We’re] going to cut a deal with the companies,” he said.

“We’ll probably do that today or very shortly thereafter,” he added.

Following the meeting, Trump told reporters that his administration had “sort of” come to a deal with the oil companies."
