"Back in October 2022, the Biden administration announced the first investment from its historic program aimed at addressing the climate and health impacts of the nation’s nearly 500,000 diesel-burning school buses.
The initial award of nearly $1 billion in rebates was enough to order around 2,300 electric school buses to be distributed among 372 school districts across the country. Through 2026, the Clean School Bus Program, created by the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will disburse a total of $5 billion — the single biggest investment of its kind.
One year later, some of the buses financed by the first billion-dollar installment are already running daily routes. But not all — or even the majority — are on the road yet, and some school districts are struggling to keep up with the process of using the money."
