Dubbed Terrorists, Mayans Fight Back Against Guatemalan Mining Projects [1]

The Marlin gold mine in Guatemala, about 50 miles from the border with Mexico, promised economic opportunities that never materialized for the Mayan population there. Now Mayan community leaders are protesting toxic pollution they say has caused health problems.

Lobbyists Can Now Join Federal Advisory Committees [21]

The Obama White House released a new rule reversing its ban on lobbyists in government.  The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) rule allows registered lobbyists to participate as members on panels covered by the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA). The rule change was forced by a court decision.

Is This US Coal Giant Funding Violent Union Intimidation in Colombia? [34]

Sometimes the threat comes in a phone call, other times in a text message or an email.
