Earth Journalism Network is offering three media grants of up to $8,000 each to support innovative, investigative and/or enterprise reporting projects on environmental or climate change issues in the US or Canada that call attention to topics, groups and/or locations lacking representation in mainstream media. The Society of Professional Journalists' New America Award honors public service journalism that explores and exposes issues of importance to immigrant or ethnic communities in the United States. Although not required, collaboration with ethnic media is taken into account. Deadline is Mar 11, 2026.

This no-fee award, new in 2024, recognizes exemplary journalism of the highest standards that is reported and published in the face of ethical challenges. Three categories — student, local and national/international significance — will present individual cash awards of up to $15,000. Deadline is Dec 22, 2025.

The National Association of Science Writers is offering two travel grants of up to $3,000 to Indigenous journalists with an interest in writing about science, medicine or the environment to attend this year's ScienceWriters annual meeting in Raleigh, N.C., Nov. 8-11. Apply by Sep 17.

This program will provide up to eight photographers with a $7,000 grant to work on their projects in their Arab country of residence over a period of 10 months. The grant may be used to begin a new project or to complete work on an existing project. Apply by Dec 10, 2025.

Ten grants, each worth 10,000 EUR, will be awarded by FPU to teams of journalists to produce in-depth, impactful investigative journalism that transcends national borders and addresses critical issues affecting European societies. Apply by Sep 9, 2024.

Vital Impacts, co-founded by Nat Geo photographer Ami Vitale, will support one photographer with a $20,000 professional grant and six photographers with $5,000 grants. In addition to the grants, Vital Impacts will select 10 emerging photographers to participate in an intensive mentorship program.
