In a new effort to help provide support to photojournalists from diverse backgrounds as they develop their craft, The Everyday Projects will award two $6,000 grants to photographers to work on a long-term project in their community. Deadline: May 8, 2023.

The National Press Foundation and the National Press Club Journalism Institute will award grants of $10,000 to $25,000 to US journalists for stories in any medium that center on environmental justice and environmental racism in the United States. Deadline: Apr 24, 2024.

Calling all creative writers whose muse is ecology: Contests in Poetry, Nonfiction and Fiction are now open for submissions. NWF's contest celebrates the power of photography to advance conservation and connect both photographers and viewers with wildlife and the outdoors. Open to amateur and professional photographers. Cash prizes in multiple categories including one for youth aged 13-17. Deadline: Apr 7, 2024.

The 2024 festival is scheduled for Sep 20-27 in Perm, Russia. Documentary filmmakers worldwide may submit new full- or short-length films directed in 2023 or 2024. Entries must reflect the style of documentarian Robert Flaherty and his film "Nanook of the North." Cash prizes. Deadline: May 20.

The National Press Club offers five scholarships in 2024 for students pursuing journalism, high school to graduate studies, three supporting diversity in the field. Deadlines: Feb 18, Apr 10 and 14.
