Wisc. Communities Affected By PFAS Await Action On $125 Million Trust Fund

"MADISON - Around the state, several communities with "forever chemical" contamination have been counting on the Legislature passing a bill to help them, but as the summer stretches on, many advocates are worried that lawmakers will fail to pass yet another proposal.

Gov. Tony Evers attempted to set aside millions in additional aid for communities struggling with PFAS in his biennial budget earlier this year, but his plan was scrapped by the Republican-led Legislature during the process. Republican leaders opted not to add any funding back to address PFAS in particular, but ultimately included funding for contamination cleanup.

But another bill, introduced earlier this year by Sen. Eric Wimberger, R-Oconto, is still on the table, awaiting votes in the Legislature."
