Solar geoengineering is receiving growing attention, bringing a complex and still-evolving field into wider public conversation. Journalists face a difficult reporting challenge: how to cover a field marked by scientific uncertainty, potentially far-reaching risks, uneven governance and sharply different views about whether and how research should proceed. On September 1, the Alliance for Just Deliberation on Solar Geoengineering (DSG), together with Solutions Journalism Network-trained journalist Yessenia Funes, will host a free, interactive webinar designed to help journalists navigate this challenge with more context.
 

EJN is pleased to announce an in-person fellowship program that will support selected journalists to attend and report from the UN Convention on Biological Diversity COP17 conference scheduled for October 19-30, 2026 in Yerevan, Armenia. This program offers training on data acquisition, cleaning, analysis and visualization led by some of the most skilled data reporters and journalism practitioners in the nation. They teach journalists how to “bulletproof” their data, ensuring accuracy in reporting. New program components focus on how to use AI in data journalism. Following the training week, Senior Fellows mentor reporters as they pair original data analysis with compelling narratives on long neglected or underexplored issues. Apply by July 22.
