DEADLINE: IWMF's African Great Lakes Reporting Fellowships [12]

The International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF) is accepting applications until Oct 3, 2015 for its African Great Lakes International Reporting Fellowships. Women journalists can apply to participate in one of two expenses-paid reporting fellowships to Rwanda and Uganda, Jan-Feb 2016, to cover underreported economic and rural development issues.

Only 6 Northern White Rhinos Left In World After Death At Sanctuary [23]

100,000 Elephants Killed In 3 Years As Poaching Rates Climb In Africa [33]

"NAIROBI, Kenya — Poachers killed an estimated 100,000 elephants across Africa between 2010 and 2012, a huge spike in the continent's death rate of the world's largest mammals because of an increased demand for ivory in China and other Asian nations, a new study published Monday found."
