"Interior: Senate Appropriator Wants Balash Ethics Filings"

"A top Senate appropriator is seeking federal ethics information for former Interior Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management Joe Balash, who recently left the department for a job with a foreign oil and gas company.

New Mexico Democrat Tom Udall wants proof that Balash properly complied with conflict of interest laws and ethics rules during his discussions with Papua New Guinea-based Oil Search Ltd., where he accepted a job as vice president of external affairs.

"While he served as Assistant Secretary, Mr. Balash was charged with managing millions of acres and billions of dollars' worth of our precious natural resources," Udall wrote in a letter yesterday to Scott de la Vega, Interior's designated agency ethics official."
