Sunshine Week Highlights Open Government March 15-21 [1]

‘Anti-Petroleum’ Movement a Growing Security Threat To Canada: Mounties [5]

"The RCMP has labelled the 'anti-petroleum' movement as a growing and violent threat to Canada’s security, raising fears among environmentalists that they face increased surveillance, and possibly worse, under the Harper government’s new terrorism legislation."

Legislators from Both Parties Move FOIA Bills Despite Bank Lobby, FTC [17]

The Senate Judiciary Committee, despite changing from Democrat to Republican control, unanimously approved a FOIA bill (S 337) on February 5, 2015. A similar House bill (HR 653) was introduced February 2 and awaits action by the Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

Greens Fume Over Obama’s Bid To Divert Gulf Restoration Funding [20]

"National environmental groups today blasted an Obama administration proposal to divert more than $3 billion in future oil and gas revenues due to Gulf Coast states to pay for land conservation, rural counties, wildlife grants, coastal restoration or other 'national priorities,' warning that such a move would stymie coastal restoration projects in Louisiana."
