9,000 Years Later, Kennewick Man Will Be Given a Native American Burial [32]

"He’s been called “the most important human skeleton ever found in North America.” Known as Kennewick Man, the 9,000-year-old Paleoamerican was unearthed in 1996 in the city of Kennewick, Washington. But the discovery was more than a thrilling moment for archaeologists—it sparked a legal battle that lasted more than two decades. Now, reports Nicholas K. Geranios for the Associated Press, Kennewick Man’s saga will finally come to an end with a Native American burial.

"Chicago To Start Testing Water In Some Schools For Toxic Lead" [34]

"Shortly after Chicago Public Schools disclosed the district has not tested water fountains for lead contamination, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said the nation's third-largest school system will begin checking water in a small number of schools this year. Citizens Group Says Libel Suit from Landfill Company Meant To Silence [38]

Black Belt Citizens Fighting for Health and Justice says the landfill, which has accepted millions of pounds of coal ash from the 2008 Tennessee spill, violates their civil rights. The community surrounding the landfill is predominantly poor and African-American.
