"Lawmakers Take Up $5B Colorado River Settlement"

"House and Senate committees will consider water rights legislation."

"A House Natural Resources subcommittee will review a $5 billion deal to ensure tribal water rights in northeastern Arizona, including funds for a new pipeline connecting Lake Powell to tribal reservation in the Colorado River Basin.

In the Senate, the Indian Affairs Committee will also take up water rights legislation, along with tribal forest management legislation.

The House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife and Fisheries will hold a hearing Tuesday to review the “Northeastern Arizona Indian Water Rights Settlement Act of 2024,” along with nearly a dozen other measures addressing Native American water rights."
