DEADLINE: Fund for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) Grants [1]

The Fund for Investigative Journalism is accepting applications for regular grants (up to $10,000 for full investigative stories) and seed grants for early reporting (up to $2,500). Proposals for both types of grants are due on April 27, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern.

New US Strategy for Coping with Climate Change Open for Comment [10]

NOAA, the USFWS, and the NY State Dept. of Environmental Conservation (representing all state and wildlife agencies) released on Jan. 19, 2012, a draft of the first national strategy for responding to climate change effects on plants, fish and wildlife. The public comment period is open until March 5, 2012, and public meetings and a webinar will occur until Feb. 22, 2012.

DEADLINE: Heinrich Böll Foundation's Transatlantic Media Fellowships [14]

The fellowships support journalists in researching stories in the EU. It has a strong focus on recruiting journalists with diverse backgrounds who might not otherwise have the opportunity to do international reporting. In 2025, policy areas include climate & energy policy, among others. Cash stipend for in-person or digital fellowship. Apply by Mar 24.

Lejeune Secrecy May Have Caused Dead Marines [22]

CDC's Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry has been investigating a Navy cover-up of cancer-causing drinking water at its Lejeune, NC, base. Now, Project on Government Oversight has released a January 5, 2012, letter from Marine Major General J.A. Kessler asking ATSDR to redact its report in the name of "force protection."
