The speed and ease of this Canadian revolution by incoming Prime Minister Justin Trudeau belies the "common wisdom" among many jaded reporters and PR professionals that muzzling of U.S. government scientists and officials is somehow inevitable and woven into the culture of government.

Scientists Work With Cuba To Bring Lost Orchids Back To Fla. State Park

"With their garish blooms, there's something special about orchids, and in the U.S., no place has more native species than Fakahatchee Strand Preserve. The state park in Southwest Florida was the setting for the 1998 book The Orchid Thief. Scientists there are working to bring back varieties lost through the years to poachers and habitat destruction."

"Bankruptcy Expected for Arch Coal, a Reflection of Industry Woes"

"Arch Coal, the nation's second largest coal company, this week told the Securities and  Exchange Commission that it may join other coal companies in filing for bankruptcy. The company said it may have to seek Chapter 11 relief because of 'extremely challenging current market conditions.'  The company, which is burdened by $5 billion in debt, said it did not see an upturn in sight."
