DEADLINE: Rita Allen Fellowship for Science Communication [1]

This new program will provide a year's support for one fellow to study the field of science media, experiment with successful media formats and work to expand science literacy in the general public.  The fellow will embed at WGBH in Boston, home of public media science series NOVA, beginning in Jan 2018. $82,000 stipend plus benefits. Apply by Jun 30.

DEADLINE: NPF "Understanding the Environmental Stakes" Fellowship [4]

The National Press Foundation is offering all-expenses-paid fellowships for a four-day training program for journalists, Jun 18-21 in Washington, DC. Issues to be examined: how  proposed budget cuts and changes at the U.S. EPA and elsewhere could affect the environment;  water use out West; the latest scientific research on the environment; the outlook for clean energy and climate treaties; how to find and use the best data to underscore your reporting on the environment; and more. Apply by Apr 24.

Coastal Resiliency in the Face of Environmental Change: Are Current Laws and Policies Flexible for a Changing World? [10]

Oregon Sea Grant and the University of Oregon Environment and Natural Resources Law Center are cohosting this free symposium which will address issues such as ocean acidification, sea level rise, and other climate stressors, their impact on natural resources, coastal infrastructure, and energy development – all through a legal and policy lens. Space is limited, pre-registration by April 3 is encouraged.
