Metcalf Institute for Marine & Environmental Reporting is accepting applications for its 16th Annual Science Immersion Workshop for Journalists: Climate Change in Coastal Ecosystems. The workshop runs from June 1 through June 6, 2014 at the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography, one of the nation’s premier oceanographic research institutions. Deadline: Feb 7, 2014.

This one-year, paid program is designed to give early-career U.S.-based journalists with a demonstrated interest in environmental issues the experience to succeed in climate and environmental media. Three fellowships available this round. Deadline: Jan 21 for May 5, 2025 start.

Mongabay.org launched a new journalism program that funds in-depth or investigative reporting on key environmental topics. The first reporting opportunity under the Special Reporting Initiatives program is titled: Innovation in tropical biodiversity conservation. The fellow chosen can work from anywhere in the world. Apply by Sep 30, 2013.

Come to Radio Camp’s October Boot Camp in Brooklyn, NY to learn how to produce a radio story from start to finish. This hands-on class will cover the basics of writing for the ear (very different than print) and producing for radio using professional equipment and software.

The International Reporting Project is accepting applications until August 2nd for a ten-day new media reporting trip to Tanzania, Sep 29-Oct 9. The trip will focus on stunting and undernutrition, environmental sustainability, agriculture markets, agricultural and health policy, technology and innovation in agriculture, and other closely related themes.

The Himalayan Climate Change Adaptation Programme provides grants to support professional journalists in reporting investigative stories on climate-related environmental issues, with special regard to adaptation measures. Apply by June 25. Preference given to reporters from countries associated with the project (including China, India, Nepal, and Pakistan).

The Solutions Journalism Network Story Fund, in partnership with the Rockefeller Foundation, is accepting applications for support (up to $5,000) of reporting projects focused on scientific, technological, commercial, or policy responses to environmental, economic, and social challenges posed by the long-term warming of the Earth. Apply by May 20th.

The National Science Foundation and the International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration are accepting proposals from media professionals to visit a "deep-field" camp on the remote Thwaites Glacier in West Antarctica in December 2019, for a period of about two weeks. Apply by Jun 21.

Scotiabank and Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE) invite applications from Latin American journalists to take part in the 8-month Scotiabank/CJFE Journalism Fellowship at Massey College in 2017-2018. Deadline: Feb 20.

RNTC's Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) is accepting applications from 1 March until 7 May for scholarships for its Multimedia Journalism & Water course, taking place 4 - 22 November 2013 in Hilversum.
