How can journalists cover this industry accurately and thoroughly as it gains momentum? Speakers will shed light on the murky world of deep sea mining, drawing from their experience in science communication, deep sea ecology, ocean policy, the human-ocean relationship and more.

Solar geoengineering is receiving growing attention, bringing a complex and still-evolving field into wider public conversation. Journalists face a difficult reporting challenge: how to cover a field marked by scientific uncertainty, potentially far-reaching risks, uneven governance and sharply different views about whether and how research should proceed. On September 1, the Alliance for Just Deliberation on Solar Geoengineering (DSG), together with Solutions Journalism Network-trained journalist Yessenia Funes, will host a free, interactive webinar designed to help journalists navigate this challenge with more context.
 

The Media Resilience Network invites journalists, freelancers and media leaders based in Northern California interested in joining a guided community space to reflect on trauma, grief and burnout connected to media work. 

The Leroy F. Aarons Scholarship and the Kay Longcope Scholarship offer up to $5,000 in tuition assistance to students committed to journalism and advancing fair coverage of LGBTQ+ communities. The application deadline is midnight ET on Friday, May 15.
