The Asia Society's annual "Oz Prize" of $10,000 is awarded to a reporter or team of reporters who has produced the best example of journalism about Asia during the calendar year. The European Commission rewards outstanding reporting on sustainable development. 2024 entries should relate to topics of inequality, poverty eradication, sustainable development, environment, biodiversity, climate action and more. The Institute for Journalism & Natural Resources is accepting proposals until Feb 28, 2026 for grants to help defray the costs of reporting projects that focus on natural resources, the environment, energy, development, agriculture, environmental justice and public health. 

Metcalf Institute's 2026 Annual Science Immersion Workshop for Journalists at the University of Rhode Island, Jun 21-26, is for full-time journalists to explore how plastics are produced, used, and discarded — and how their breakdown contributes to widespread environmental contamination. The Radio Television Digital News Association offers scholarships for outstanding students and fellowships for young professionals (<10 years experience in the field) pursuing careers in radio, television, or online news.
