The Asian American Journalists Association is accepting nominations for the 2025 Journalism Excellence Awards until Feb 12.  Established in 1987, the awards recognize and encourage excellence among journalists and outstanding coverage of Asian American and Pacific Islander issues by AAJA members.

FIJ awards grants up to $10,000 for stories that break new ground and expose wrongdoing in the public and private sectors. Next deadline is Jan 30, 2026. Plus, seed grants up to $2,500, follow-up grants for timely stories after initial investigations and for those who've previously received a seed grant.

The NABJ will gather in Cleveland, Ohio, Aug 6-10, for the 2025 Annual Convention, a multiday event for journalism education, career development, networking and industry innovation.

Several hundred journalists from Asia, the Pacific and the United States will gather in Manila for the East-West Center's conference, which is held every two years.

The East-West Center’s 2025 Exchange takes place Sep 9-19 with the theme “Internal Uncertainty Amid External Challenges: US-Korea Relations in 2025.” Open to US and Korean print, broadcast and online journalists with a minimum of five years of experience. Apply by Jun 30.

The James Aronson Awards annually honor original, written reporting that brings to light widespread injustices, their human consequences, underlying causes, and possible reforms. The Awards also include a companion Cartooning with a Conscience award. Deadline is Mar 18, 2019.

The 2025 Asian American Journalists Association National Convention will take place in Seattle, Washington. This year’s theme is Forging Our Legacies, Navigating the Future.

The Native American Journalists Association will convene at the 2023 National Native Media Conference in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada for sessions about best practices in Indigenous media, training and workshops to support and enhance the knowledge and skills of journalists covering Indigenous communities.
