Why I Write About Extinction [1]

Reporting on species who are gone forever can be disheartening, but don’t let that stop you. After more than two decades on the extinction beat, John R. Platt has learned this work can also be deeply rewarding. He explains why he’s stuck with it and why other journalists should consider joining him in telling the stories of vanishing animals and plants.

DEADLINE: NLGJA's CONNECT Student Journalism Training Project [31]

Applications are open for NLGJA's CONNECT: Student Journalism Training Project. CONNECT places selected participants at NLGJA's National Convention in San Francisco this September, with travel, lodging and registration fully covered. It's a remarkable hands-on opportunity, and it's open to all students regardless of LGBTQ+ identification or NLGJA membership.
