The NRC's annual conference in Rockville, MD, taking place a week after the one-year anniversary of Japan's Fukushima Daiichi disaster, presents an excellent opportunity for story angles and leads. The NRC strongly encourages interested members of the media, particularly video crews, to register online by Feb. 28. Onsite registration will also be available during the RIC but could have a wait time.

The Conference will focus on two themes: a green economy, in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication; and the institutional framework for sustainable development.

The Institutes for Journalism & Natural Resources' welcomes applications by April 26th for its Crown of the Continent Institute, a five-day, expenses-paid journey (June 26-30, 2013) exploring environmental issues in Montana's Rocky Mountain Front.

Sponsored by the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law, this roundtable discussion at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, will touch on the impacts of the economic downturn on low-income and minority communities in the United States and in developing nations; steps the U.S. federal government is taking to advance environmental justice domestically; and important private sector initiatives.
