Group Files Suit Asking Court To Strike Down EPA FOIA Rule [1]

A good-government advocacy group filed suit July 23, arguing that EPA's June 26 Freedom of Information Act rule had been issued illegally and violated FOIA law. The group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) asked a federal district court in D.C. to strike down the new EPA rule.

IG Investigates Whether Interior Officials Violated Transparency Laws [8]

Climate Scientist Canned, SCOTUS To Rule on Chemical ‘Secrets’ and Army Corps Sued Over Permit Info [38]

A scientist contracted to report on climate impacts for the National Park Service was caught up in a fracas over attempted censorship of her findings. Now she’s been fired. Under Siege from Ethics Probes, Interior Dept. Proposes Gutting Rules on Open Records [41]

Journalism groups, among them the Society of Environmental Journalists, have raised objections to an under-the-radar plan by the Interior Department that would essentially allow it to turn down almost any Freedom of Information Act requests it chose. Pushback on White House, Info Access Summit, Records Destruction & more [48]
